Windows unable to BACKUP EFI Partition due to lock - AVIRA locking

Recently had to reinstall windows 11. After installing everything (except AVIRA Security), performed a backup and no issue.

After installing Avira Security, always get an error unable to get exclusive lock on EFI Partition. IF I uninstall or "REPAIR" installation, it immediately works. However, if AVIRA is repaired, the next backup fails for the reason above.

How to get Avira to EXCLUDE this volume/partition from backup?

  Gleiches Problem hier. Ich hab hier mehrere WIndows11-Maschinen, auf den die integrierte Windows Backup-Funktion verwendet wird (jeweils am Anfang des Monats). Erstmal aufgefallen, dass es nicht mehr geht, ist es mir am 02.06.2023. Seither hab ich alles mögliche versucht das selbst zu fixen (u.A. Echtzeitschutz und Co in Antivir deaktiviert), jedoch ohne Erfolg.

  Auf einer extra für den Test dessen frisch aufgesetzten Windows11-Maschine ging die Sicherung ohne Antivir installiert ohne Probleme. Sobald Antivir drauf ist, hat sich das mit der Sicherung erledigt. Keine Sicherung mehr möglich, aufgrund des EFI-Lock. 

  Ich hab auf Windows Updates gewartet, dass die das ggf. fixen, jedoch ohne Erfolg. Jetzt hab ich die Wahl, extra deswegen ein separates Backup-Tool einzuführen (was auch wieder Geld kostet und erheblichen Mehraufwand erzeugt), oder mir ein anderes Antivirenprogramm zu suchen. Wenn Antivir das nicht schnell fixt, dann ist die Wahl ziemlich leicht. 

  Das muss echt dringend gefixt werden...!

  I'll have to try another antivir program and see if that resolves the issue.

  it is related that windows backup (windows 7) does not backup EFI partition (needed if you need to restore). it is blocked by Avira antivirus software.

  UPDATE: in a later update of Avira (about July'23), the problem went away and backups worked as per normal.
