Avira free smart scan stuck at 19% - Fix or disable

I keep getting alerted to the background scan finding issues, but I am unable to see the results. If I do a smart scan, it stops at 19%, so I constantly have an alert from Avira.

Is there a way to either fix this, or to just disable the smart scan?
