Executable files disappearing -- possibly because they were launched by false positives?
AbgeschlossenHello,
I have records of several executable files disappearing on Windows PC's at home and at work, running Avira free Antivirus and Prime respectively.
These disappearing executable files should undoubtedly be not viruses, the most blatant being the executable of Adobe Acrobat Reader. They disappear with no warning from Avira or from Windows. The only way to restore them is by reinstalling the whole programs.
One common characteristic of all these files, is that they are launched by a software that Avira sometimes considers a false-positive, that either we (at work) or I (at home) develop.
So my question is: is it possible, that when software A.exe is detected as a malware and is quarantined, then Avira may also silently delete software B.exe and C.exe that were launched by A.exe? This may happen at the time A.exe is quarantined, or when it is deleted from quarantine (we don't care restoring those files from quarantine, because we have the EXE available one click away).
If the answer is yes, it would shed light on a very obscure problem that has tainted us for years. And Avira should please find a way to disable this behavior.
Comments and suggestions welcome.
Best regards,
Arrigo

Hello Arrigo,
You are writing here in the Avira Community, a public forum. There is no contact to the Avira technicians of Avira Support from here.
Premium customers with a valid licence and correct registration can contact the support team directly from the customer account under "SUPPORT": via email, support chat and (in some cases) telephone. It would make sense to contact the support team directly.
Your question about the technical operation of your software cannot be answered from here, the publicly accessible community, we are an user2user forum without contact to your installation or to the Avira technicians. Thank you for your understanding.Best regards and have a nice Sunday
