Avira antivirus prevents starting of Ulitmaker Cura
Hi,
i have search the net, but couldn't locate anything on the subject (except suggestions to uninstall Avira). Hence i am asking here
If Real-time protection is enabled, then Cura loads into background process consuming 50MBs of RAM and stops responding. If i disable real-time protection, then it start properly. It happens with Cura version 4.0.0, 4.1.0 and 4.3.0.
The most annoying part that there is no notification from Avira, nothing in Avira and Cura logs.
Any ideas what could be an issue?
Thanks

Hello Kil,
did you try to set exceptions for the program in Avira Antivirus? You can do it as described under the following link:
https://support.avira.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000834465-How-do-I-setup-Exceptions-for-Files-Folders-and-Processes-
After that, the real-time protection shouldn´t affect the program's start.Best,

Hello Dominik,
Thank you for response and suggestion.
Actually i had added Cura to process exception list yesterday, but it did not work. However when I have tried today, it launched successfully.
Then i have tested with another version of Cura. If i add Cura process to exception list and press Apply, it still prevents Cura from fully starting, i.e. exception is not applied. After restart of computer, Cura starts-up properly, i.e. exception get's applied. However in your link i do not see requirement for computer reboot.
The probable reason for Avira blocking Cura is that Cura initiates other threads on launch. For version 4.1.0 i see:

Cura has Python based plug-ins, that get compiled at launch time - i suppose that's the reason for Console Host.
Thanks again, i am happy with the solution.
