Solved: All components of Avira won't uninstall, W7 64 bit
I have to uninstall Avira to test if it is the reason why my installations (GeForce graphics drivers, Abobe Flash Player) fail and Mozilla applications Firefox and Thunderbird stopped opening (only process starts,the application window doesn't open, also can't end the process with Task Manager or any other programs that should kill processes - Admin rights Command prompt Taskill PID /FE, Process Explorer, NirSoft NirCmd, PSTools pskill64.exe) - only restarting computer kills the processes). These problems started last week, about the same time when I got the renewed looking Avira user interface update.
But I can't get all Avira components uninstalled with Windows Programs and Features Uninstall. I am using Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, with an AMD Phenom II processor, have used two administrative level user accounts for uninstalling. I had Arovax Antispyware in use since spring 2019, it uninstalled cleanly. Also I was able to uninstall Firefox and reinstall it (but it still won't open, even after removing parent.lock files and creating new user profile). I'm not using Windows Firewall, I'm using ZoneAlarm.
Two components uninstalled what seemed well: "Avira update" and I think it was "Avira Security" or something. Avira OrganiZer uninstalled dirty: disappeared from installed programs list, but it did leave a small window which stayed minimized, could not be brought front with Task Manager either, and I had to finally reboot the computer.
Avira Phantom VPN and Avira Antivirus won't uninstall. And then there's the component which says only "Avira," but tells you should uninstall the other components first. When I try an uninstall either of the two components, a window pops up asking do I want to uninstall. After answering Yes... nothing else visible happens, but if I try to start another uninstall job, I get a message "please wait untill the current program is finished uninstalling or being changed." Well, how many hours it takes? I left the computer running over night, and also when I went to work: uninstalls did not happen.

I used it already before trying to uninstall Avira. And then again with Avira uninstallation problems: selected Avira to uninstall, it did something, but the problem still remains: cannot uninstall remaining components of Avira.
Your support page in https://support.avira.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003162153-How-do-I-uninstall-my-Avira-product- does not help me, as it stops already in the "Confirm the following product uninstall notification with Yes." phase.
I have downloaded Avira Registry Cleaner, but have not used it yet.

Managed to disable Avira services in Windows Safe mode and uninstall other components except Avira AntiVirus
AVGnt.exe process is Data Execution prevention Enabled, according to Task Manager. Probably reason why I can't uninstall it.
Still wrestling with Firefox and Thunderbird to get their application window to open.

I am having the same problem and it is REALLY starting to tick me off, I cannot shift Avira Software Updater and I have looked for it in the registry and everything - HELP!

In my case the quilty party was ZoneAlarm firewall. It doesn't start properly any more in my W7 64. Now each time I start Windows, I need to click ZoneAlarm shortcut. Otherwise nothing can connect to Internet. It prevents program windows to open for applications that try internet connection.
