A new version, or a scam?

On 13/03 I received an email with the heading:

"Important security update for your Avira software."

the sender was "news@campaign.avira.com

the body of the email said something about Win 7 and then: "A New and Improved Version of your Avira Antivirus is now available..." with instructions and a link to "download for free".

 

Below that is: "This will download a new version. After downloading please follow the on-screen instructions. Safe browsing, Your Avira Team"

 

This is weird because I have a paid and licensed copy of Avira Pro, which updates the version at least once a day. I tried to look up "latest version" of the Pro, so that I could compare it with what I have, but I couldn't find that info on the Avira site.

Was this a marketing email mistakenly sent to Pro customers? Or was it a scam? Or - do I really need to manually download a new version?

(so far I haven't done anything)

  This has happened on 23rd March 2021 now as well - despite the having of a full, up-to-date version installed (PC) and downloading updates daily - and not using a mobile phone to access the Net, etc. through.

  The email says:

  
  "Hello User,

  Your security app is either out of date or disconnected from your Avira account. This means you're not getting important product updates. You're still protected, but you're missing out on new features and benefits.

  But no worries. We prepared some information to help you resolve this issue with a few simple steps.
