What is the difference between Avira Security and Avira Antivirus?

QUICK QUESTION FOR MACS.

I HAVE DOWNLOADED THE AVIRA SECURITY ON THE MAC APP STORE AND SUBSEQUENTLY THE AVIRA ANTIVURS ON THE COMPANY WEBSITE. ARE THE TWO APPS ANY DIFFERENT?

ALSO DOWNLOADED THE IOS. DOES IT SCAN FOR VIRUS/MALWARE?

  Hello Charles,

  Well, both versions (mac OS App Store - Avira .dmg version) are different due to limitations from the App Store guideline. So with the Avira version from our website you receive faster program-updates (not virus definitions) as we're able to deliver them without the stop-over at Apple.

  At iOS, it is not possible to scan for viruses as all apps are limited to run in their own sandbox.
