The posts I can find on ObliqueRAT are all in German so I start this one in hopes of getting an answer.

Has Avira addressed this Trojan and are we protected against it since it can be in any image on any infected website.

If you are using Windows you are all aware how loose Microsoft has become with their adverstisers.  Some of them are shady at best, and plain scammers at worse.  Who knows if their sites are safe.

I no longer go to any of Microsoft's advertised merchant sites because of this.

So, again are we protected by Avira against the ObliqueRAT Trojan?

  Hello Leslie,

  Well to be secured with this threat please make sure that

  • your used Avira installation (free or paid)
  • your Microsoft Windows/ Microsoft Office
  • your additional used software

  is up-2-date and active. So, if you've updated and you won't download and run scripts and software from unknown sources you're secure.
