    The minimum OS version for Avira is now macOS 10.12 (Sierra). So yes, you would need to upgrade your OS in order to get Avira running again.

    Thanks for the reply. Looks like I'll have to buy a new device as I don't think I can upgrade my OS on this computer. Darn.

    That would be your best bet. On the bright side, upgrading your computer/OS will provide you with Apple's latest vulnerability patches, which will further harden your Mac.

    Not for me; I'll find a different antivirus that will support this macOS.

    Avira is not working on my Macbook Pro 10.12.6 Sierra. What can I do? (A Bot answered my query and said I would get a follow-up, but so far no response.)
