Has Avira for Mac been abandoned by Norton?
AbgeschlossenHas Norton completely abandoned the development of their Mac Antivirus?
I have recently become aware that informed that Avira has been acquired by Norton.
A large number of users have complained about a very, very longstanding issue regarding the Menu Bar Umbrella being closed and in my case I can not perform any manual scans or scheduled antivirus scans at all.
I simply can not activate my real-time protection either.
This Avira for Mac has become a dysfunctional white elephant sitting their on my Mac and apparently doing absolutely NOTHING.
I have lodged a formal request for technical support, and they have responded that they acknowledge this problem, the solutions offered simply do not work.
I have tried completely uninstalling Avira reinstalling, ensuring that Avira has full disc access and then rebooting my Mac and waiting extended periods of time for this to resolve, but alas nothing works.
This has been going on for over a month now, this is extremely bad technical support for an essential security product.
This whole technical issue is made far worse by many Avira Prime customers who have reported this technical issue arises with each new version of the Mac operating system.
NO OTHER MAC ANTIVIRUS HAS THIS VERY LONG STANDING ISSUE.
Avira Prime customers deserve much better technical support than this.
EXTREMELY LONG DELAYS IN FIXING TECHNICAL ISSUES ARE INEXCUSABLE.
Many Avira Prime customers are getting very frustrated and quite angry because Avira are dragging their feet and taking forever to fix this issue.
Avira will soon face a mass exodus of paying Avira Prime customers who are fed up with such extremely long delays and shockingly bad customer support.
Avira has been acquired by Norton.
Are they continuing to support Avira for Mac or abandon it.
This would explain the almost total lack of technical support on this issue.
If Norton has no plans to continue supporting Avira for Mac, please make a public announcement so we can all move on.

Hello James,
Well, we've faced some issues with our version for macOS but are still developing updates for it. Also, the acquisition by NortonLifeLock doesn't impact our current roadmap. We're still improving our macOS app.
Best,
