Avira Free Security Not Allow to Proceed the Setup and Installation
I'm using iMac (21.5-inch, Later 2013) macOS Catalina and using Avira Free Security.
I got a message from Avira to update the setup to "Add 'Avira Security' and 'Avira Scan Service' into the list." ('Privacy' in System Preferences).
However, although the two boxes already checked, it won't allow me to go to the next step. I've tried to uncheck and check it again, but not success.
Therefore, I uninstall it and install it again, but it stopped at the same step during the installation.
So my system has no antivirus program protected now.
What do you suggest me to do?

What I had to do is to download the software again and re-install. I had to do this 3 times(each time tried to continue installation--which did not work), after the 4th time, went into the security settings and noticed Avira Security Helper was there as well, so i checked that. After that, I was able to continue installation.

Thank you very much for sharing your experience.
However, I've tried your method in many times and different ways (Without uninstall, with uninstall: Move the app to trash, use a program cleaner app to uninstall, restart the iMac...), but still the same, the "Avira Security Helper" didn't show up.
Would mind show me more details and step how you do the re-install, it would be much appreciated.

Did you click on later for setup after click on the Avira settings? I know it is very frustrating.

In the list, "Avira Scan Service" and "Avira Security" already checked, therefore, I don't need to check it.
I did uncheck the two boxes and check again, I selected "Later" not "Quit Now", but still doesn't allow me to proceed the the setup.
Yes, this is very frustrating.

Same problem here. Still failing after two uninstall/reinstalls and restart. These little helpers are great for my wife, but I regularly now know to fire up Security prefs and Allow install as well as how to add all disk access. How about removing the lock out from the install software?

Same behavior over here... it seems that Avira Security (Prime account) is not able to protect my devices. I've already done what everybody else here has done and Avira support is not responding. This is very frustrating.

I actually received a reply from CS. They say it is 'nothing to be alarmed about, we are still secure, even though the umbrella is closed and they are working on it..'

Thank you Amy Blumhardt. Adding 'Avira Security Helper' did the trick for me (even though the Avira setup mentions nothing about this!)
