Secured Shell / Work Environment for Remote Job

I am a 1099 independent contractor (USA).  I am self employed, I own the computer I am on.  But the new job I took has me using a VM, a shell?  That is detecting Avira.  I guess even though I shut it down for 24 hours and turn it completely off it still has some of its processes running?   Without uninstalling, I'd like a way to remove Avira from my computer or allow it to work with the ThinScale/Secure Work Environment.

I've used Avira for a bit, I like it.  I do not want to have to cancel and uninstall.  However, this new job will take priority.  I am open to any thoughts.  It is bizarre that people don't want you running additional protection.  However, I frequently hear Windows Defender is enough and 3rd party apps are unnecessary.  I ran into a situation where Avira helped me out and defender did not.  3rd party or not, I trust Avira the best I can.
