Starting with MacOS 10.14 Mojave the Avira Antivirus requires additional access rights on the user system to run properly.
If after installation a red dot is displayed on the Avira icon, it indicates that the product has been installed successfully, but is not ready to be used.
Setup Avira Antivirus
The Antivirus requires a user interaction to explicitly grant permissions to the users' calendar, messages, mail and application data. These access rights are required for the Antivirus real-time protection so that it can detect malicious files as well in these folders.
- Open System Preferences.
- Go to Security and Privacy settings.
Make sure that you are in menu General.
- Click Allow in the lower right corner.
- Unlock to make changes.
- Click Add (+) button.
- Select Avira Services.
- Click Open.
- Your Avira Antivirus should now work properly.
