Program that should not have been quarantined
TerminéeI use Visual FoxPro to develop desktop applications. I wrote one application called chores.exe to manage daily tasks. That app is only used by me, and it has been running without issue on my desktop computer for about ten years. I have been using Avira for about the same amount of time. A few days ago, Avira quarantined chores.exe without asking me if I wanted to mark it as safe. Using your interface, I tried to recover, but Avira would not allow me to do so. My workaround was to rebuild the app as chores1.exe and update my related utility programs and Windows shortcuts. That seems to be working for now, but I did have a few questions.
1. Why was my app quarantined in the first place? Is there some instance of a malicious program named chores.exe in your database?
2. Why wasn't I allowed to "tell" Avira that my program should not be moved to quarantine?
3. Why did Avira fail to restore from quarantine? I attempted to restore within ten minutes.
4. When I reported this to Avira a few days ago, my request was re-routed to bugcrowd.com. Today they sent me a reply telling me to contact Avira. Are all customers treated that way?5. In good faith, I attached a copy of chores.exe in the request that went to bugcrowd.com. Since they had no intention of examining the file, I would like to make sure that copy of my intellectual property is properly deleted. Who do I talk to about that?
