Chrome extension causing MacBook Air M1 to overheat

The Chrome extension (being used on Brave browser) is hammering the CPU and causing my Mac to reach nearly 100 degrees. As soon as the extension is turned off, the CPU usage massively reduces and the Mac drops to 45 degrees. There's clearly a bug in the extension that needs to be fixed.
