Avira false flag on a Windows app auto updated exe
Hi,
I have an issue where a known and trusted (I've met the developers) desktop Win32 application is being quarantined by Avira when the app does an auto-update.This is on Windows 10.
The initial app installer is fine even though it's marked as an Unknown Publisher by the Microsoft security warning pop-up. But when the app is run and it finds a newer version online, after it downloads and runs the new version, Avira will quarantine it.
If the process is repeated and the App updates with Avira disabled, the update works without issues.
Avira is flagging up this 'threat' as 'Drop.Win32.ScoreSelfDel.241' but even Avira's 'more info' link shows nothing about it. Also a web search revealed very little about this threat.
Some questions on what can be done about this issue:
- Can the app be digitally certified by the devs so that Avira won't false flag it?
- Is there away of submitting data to Avira so they can whitelist it?
- How do other apps stop Avira from triggering a quarantine on them?
Thanks!
