Host files blocked

About ten minutes ago I got a warning pop-up saying host files had been blocked. I haven't seen this before, so I went to check the activity log on my Antivirus, and it says:

"Host file blocked: In accordance with security guidelines, the Administrator has blocked access to the Hosts files."

 

What does this mean? Should I run a scan with my Antivirus and Malwarebytes to be on the safe side?

  Hello Natalie,

  Well, this file is protected by default from the side of Avira. This makes sure, that no malware is accessing it to prevent system changes. If you need to access it, feel free to disable it:
