Avira keeps getting added to my dock

Every hour or so, Avira keeps getting added to my doc. (OSX 10.14.6)

The program doesn't appear to be running or opening. I keep removing it from the dock, and it keeps getting added back.

How do I keep it from reappearing in my dock?

  Hello Karlie,

  Well, in this case, the Avira icon at your Dock is from the Avira update module. This is built by design from the architecture of macOS.

  If you won't like to have a recently used app menu within your Dock, feel free to disable this feature within macOS settings:

  1. Go to the  Apple menu and choose “System Preferences”
  2. Choose the “Dock” preference panel
  3. Uncheck the box next to “Show recent applications in Dock” to hide the recent apps from the Dock in macOS
