Avira Setup will not complete after 4.2.0.11 update on MacOS Catalina 10.15.7
A few days ago I got an alert when I opened Avira that a new version is available. Allowed it to download and install it. Then the Avira Setup application opened as if I had never installed Avira.
I tried to follow the directions as I had done when I first installed it, but the directions are for Mohave and our Mac Mini is on Catalina 10.15.7. They should not be that different but the icon you are supposed to drag from the Avira Setup application onto the unlocked Security & Privacy control panel (Full Disk Access IS selected) simply bounces back and does not make an entry in the apps field.
I added it manually using the step by step instructions link and it appeared to work okay but the Avira Setup icon is in the menu bar and Avira will not launch - Avira Setup comes up again.
Several other posts here report a similar problem several months ago but no solution was ever provided.

Well, our Avira Antivirus for macOS is EOL (end-of-life), so please use our Avira Free Security for macOS instead.
If you have a valid license, login to our software afterward.

Ich habe dasselbe Problem, verstehe aber nicht, was ich jetzt tun muß. Ich benutze Avira seit mehreren Jahren, kann jetzt aber nicht unter Catalina updaten? Was muß ich tun????

Die Version 4.2.11 wird nicht weiter entwickelt.Du musst Dir die neue Free Security Version laden und neu installieren.
Danach verschwindet die Fehlermeldung bzw.Installationsanweisung.

Gilt das auch für die AVIRA PRO Version. HIer existiert das gleiche Problem.
BS: MAC OS Catalina 10.15.7.
