MacBook running macOS 10.15 (Catalina) will not restart after latest anti-virus update
TerminéeFollowed instructions for the latest anti-virus update. Provided full disk access to Avira. MacBook Pro running macOS 10.15 (Catalina) will not restart. No current license so no access to Avira support. Anyone I can call to discuss how to recover my Mac?

Hello John,
The reaction of your license after the update is unfortunate. However, without a licence, a telephone connection with the support team is not possible.
But you write now here in the forum. Please describe exactly the technical data of the MacBook and the installed Avira version so that we can forward your information to the support team on Monday.
We are sorry, but unfortunately there is no other way with the Avira support team on the weekend.
We await your feedback.Best regards and a nice weekend

Hi pascha45 and thank you for the reply. I received a notice earlier today from Avira that there was a update available for my Free Avira Anti-Virus software for my MacBook Pro running macOS Catalina 10.15.6. The update provided instructions to change the Security and Privacy settings in System Preferences to allow apps from third-party developers and to grant full disk access to Avira. My troubles began immediately upon Restart aa my MacBook would hang on the Logo Screen with fully lite progress bar, After hard shutdown, the MacBook would not boot into Safe Mode. Another hard shutdown and a call to Apple Support to access Recovery Mode. In Recovery Mode, I reinstalled macOS Catalina which reset System Preferences and allowed my system to start without any loss of data. At that point, I deleted all things Avira forevermore as "Free" from Avira is definitely not worth it. Avira may want to rethink their support policy.
