Does browser extension log browsing data and collect user location? Is the URL encrypted?
RéponduHello!
I have some questions about the Password Manager.
1. Does Avira Password Manager browser extension log/collect user's browsing data or visited websites? According to https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/avira-password-manager/caljgklbbfbcjjanaijlacgncafpegll, Avira Password Manager collects "The list of web pages a user has visited, as well as associated data such as page title and time of visit." I understand that the extension needs to "Read and change all your data on the websites you visit" in order for it to work correctly and autofill, but I'm concerned that this data is transmitted to the Avira server. I did NOT see anything about this in the Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy only says that Avira Password Manager collects data for the purpose of: "Contract performance, Revenue generation, Operational processes, Marketing, Evaluations." If the extension does indeed collect one's browsing history, what does Avira do with the data?
Attached is a screenshot:
2. Why does Avira collect information about user's location? How is this data used?
3. Is Avira Password Manager based on any other Password Manager, that is, using similar coding, or is it solely developed by Avira?
4. Does Avira Password Manager collect any data about the logins stored in the vault? Many password managers, for example, collect the number of passwords stored, the average strength of the passwords, the number of folders/tags etc. Some password managers don't even encrypt the URL. What about Avira? Does it collect any of these information, whether it's anonymized or not?
Thank you very much in advance!

Hello Pascha45,
Thank you for the reply.
I would love to get in touch with the Avira Customer Support! However, as I do not have a valid Avira license, I have no way of contacting them directly. That is why I decided to ask these questions about Avira password manager's privacy on this public forum. I’m sorry that I didn’t know that my above questions contained "personal data," but I appreciate your help. Thank you and have a nice day.
