Takes forever to install

1. A few weeks ago I started installing free Avira Security downloaded from the App Store. It has been working on the connection encryption for 96 hours so far. It has secured 361 files so far. It has freed 1.5 GB so far. How long does this process take? Is this normal? I've never heard of an installation process like this. I miss the old free Avira antivirus!

2. Avira Security will start automatically upon starting the computer, but it doesn't after having been asleep. It will start up after a few minutes of sleep, but after a longer period of time, I have to remember to restart the program. If there were an umbrella in the menu bar, it would serve as a reminder, but really, I think it should just automatically continue where it left off before going to sleep.

3. Avira prevents Mac Mail from sending emails. I receive emails just fine, but I have to stop the security program in order to send emails. Most annoying, and unsafe as well.
