Please note that the system requirements for Avira Security for macOS are macOS 10.15 Catalina. Therefore, we cannot offer a solution here.
We, therefore, ask you to update your macOS as soon as possible. An up-to-date OS offers important security updates as well as feature enhancements. Therefore, you should not hesitate to install it.

When did Avira stop supporting macOS High Sierra? My last successful update was 7-24-21.

Well, Mike Hoffmann - We cannot provide an exact date but we're just able to support the latest two releases of macOS - the last and current one (macOS 10.15.x and macOS 11.x atm).
If it works fine with an older release, okay, but we cannot give any guarantee that this will stay.

Well that's just rubbish - "You can't secure your Mac 'cos it is too old - go buy a new computer"
If I could buy a newer Mac with the latest version OS, I would; and would probably buy a security programme, not just use a free one.; but it would be useful if
a) updates were notified as being incompatible with sytems older than OS10.15.x or whatever
b) you could actually contact Avira via their on-line links, which don't work, and get some direct communication, instaed of 'community posts'
Scans haven't worked for a year or 18 months, and updates about the same, 'cos I'm too pooor to buy a brand new computer - that sucks!
