Avira detected NOTEPAD.EXE as a virus

Hello!
So, today i was deleting some files in my downloads folder, when i opened a .txt file to check it, and suddently Avira flagged NOTEPAD.EXE as being an virus, and now i can't open any .txt, .data, etc.
I read a little bit about it, and found out that NOTEPAD.EXE is a harmful trojan, but the one that Avira put in quarantine came from System32 and seems to be the real notepad.exe, which makes me wonder if it was a false positive.
Should I delete it, or restore the file?

  You have the option of having files that have been quarantined or for which the virus message is unclear checked again.

  Afterwards, a decision on how to proceed should be taken by a new examination.

  Premium customers with a valid licence can have suspicious files checked by Support. Technical investigations can be initiated from there, which we do not have access to here.
