Avira freezing when trying to run a scan

Once a month, I always run a full Avira virus scan, but when I tried to do it today, Avira seemed to freeze and not even let me close the window. I tried clicking "full scan" at first, then after shutting down and starting my device up, I tried "quick scan". Same result.
I've updated Avira today and even done a manual update, and that lets me close the Avira window afterwards. I've checked everything through Win+R/managing services as well, and all seems to be well.

Has anyone else had this problem, and is there a fix for it other than potentially having to uninstall and reinstall Avira?
