Thank you Pascha 45
I did not give enough information unfortunately. I will look into it and give you what I can here. It still is stuck on 1% and nothing i can do about it unless I do as you suggest.
I know I updated the Avira then attempted a scan and this occurred. I use windows 10 and it is the free version but that is not enough I know.
Thanks
Roger

Hello Roger,
You're very welcome. Thank you for your feedback.
Since you have the Free version, it is important to know what troubleshooting activities you have already initiated. The repair installation:
the uninstallation:
and then - after the reboot - the reinstallation:
We can't recommend more than that, if we don't have your installation data, unfortunately there is no access to support in the free version. Let's hope that a measure will correct your installation.
If anything is still unclear, please let us know, we will be pleased to help.
Kind regards and a nice weekend.

Thank you Pascha45
I have good news. I did as you suggested and repaired my Avira. It worked and now all is working as it should. That is all I had to do. What a neat trick. No uninstalling or reinstalling, just repair.
Wow!!!
And for all those suffering the same . Here is a good solution. Thanks, Roger
