Avira prevents Google Drive to start up
Since I bought CCleaner Professional Plus, Google Drive is always disabled at startup of my PC (Windows 11).
FYI: the configuration setting in Google Drive 'Open Google Drive on system startup' is checked. In CCleaner I can switch GoogleDriveFS to 'on' (menu Extra, Startup), but after switching off my PC and switching on again, Google Drive is disabled again for starting up.
I contacted CCleaner's helpdesk about this proplem and they suggested a workaround because of a bug in Avira:
"There is currently a known issue with Avira antivirus programs where a feature called "Sentry" (i.e., an engine called sentryeye.exe that is part of the heuristic/behavioural detection of Avira and BullGuard antiviruses) can move executables of several programs like MS Office, Chrome / Firefox / MS Edge browsers, etc. into a folder called C:\Windows\Temp\sentry_temp for monitoring.
When CCleaner, or any other disk cleaner, cleans the Windows temporary files the monitored executables are deleted. Until Avira fixes this bug the recommended workaround is to exclude the C:\Windows\Temp\sentry_temp folder (Options | Exclude | Add | Drive or Folder) to prevent CCleaner from cleaning this folder (see image below).
See Avira user AW7's 11-Aug-2022 post in CCleaner Corrupting Program Files for a partial list of program executables that were being damaged when CCleaner purged the contents of their C:\Windows\Temp\sentry_temp folder on their computer, as well as APMichael's 13-Aug-2022 post <here> in that same thread confirming that other disk cleaners like BleachBit cause the same problem when Avira is used as the antivirus."
The workaround from CCleaner works for me.
My question to Avira is: are you currently working on a bug fix?
