    Same problem. It's annoying.

Even logging out and back in (using ctrl+alt+del) doesn't work. That usually helps with problems like this.

The only to eject it safely now is to shutdown and unplug it, or uninstall/repair Avira and during that process try to eject it...it's really annoying, hope they fix it.

Hey guys, the same pb since past week.

It seems to be linked to the new scanning external periph function but if you ignore it, the pb is still the same.

I add an exception folder, no results.

Is there a mean to mail the support when you're a free user ?

I only see a chat button, but everything requires holding a license

Yes, I also just read that if you want official support, you have to pay. The community should help users of the free software.

It's worse than Avira is letting on.I cannot run my backup software to a USB destination because Avira won't relinquish control of it.

I am reduced to off line backups only.

Avira needs to fix this ASAP.

Hey same problem.  I tried uninstalling Avira, the problem is fixed, as soon as you re-install it, the problem is back. It's really a pain in the ***.  Problem appeared with a recent update.  Why is there no fix from Avira ?

I have the same problem (avira prime). I chattted with customer support but were useless. Maybe I got a not very smart operator. I will try again tomorrow. Clearly a Avira bug: as soon as uninstalled everything OK. same problem when reinstalled.

I hope you could find the good support (pay verdion) which could help us (free users).
    Best regards.

    It's definitely a bug.
I back up my work to 5 different USB devices (2 front slots). I can't turn off the PC after every backup. That can't be the solution. It sucks.
I also have to say that I'm worried about my backups if I can't properly unpair the devices.

Rich Caladie, may I ask which Antivirus did you switch to?

If this persists or gets worse i may have to change it as well, but i've had Avira for 10 years, i don't know what other good antiviruses out there that are not really heavy on the laptop

Following, same issue. Can't have my AV locking USB devices and preventing unmounting.

Is there a bug tracking system? Is there a fixed version? What is the time line?

Still waiting a response from tech support. After two days I received an email out of the blue where they were just closing the ticket. I replied keeping the ticket alive.... still no reply yet

    Hello everyone,

this is an entry from a german user:
"Wir bitten Sie, Ihr Avira zu aktualisieren und nach dem Update Ihr Gerät neu zu starten.
Bitte stellen Sie sicher, dass die aktualisierte Version 1.0.2306.842 ist (zur Überprüfung gehen Sie bitte zu Hilfe – Info auf der Avira-Benutzeroberfläche und überprüfen Sie die Antivirus SDK-Version).
Danach wird dieses Problem behoben sein."

    short:

    1. Update Avira to Version 1.0.2306.842
    2. Restart your computer

I try it and it works!

I'm afraid the problem is back. Anyone else have the same problem again?
