Anti virus and firewall

I need to disable my Avira Anti Virus and firewall in order to install two critical updates and something is not letting them upload.  How do I turn them off and back on?  I have searched everywhere.  Please help me.

  Hello Joseph,
  
  when you open Avira Antivirus you can select each module (real-time protection, Ransomeware protection,....) by clicking on it and then turn it off. The firewall is just your normal Windows firewall. So here you find the options in the Windows settings.

  how do i get my virus definitions to update..they show to be 34 days old  RWG

  • Which operating system
  • Which Avira version
  • Have you made any changes?
  • Are you registered with the correct email address? Were there any changes?
  • Who shows you the 34 days?

  Note: Have you ever looked under
  C:\ProgramData\Avira\Antivirus\LOGFILES
  to see when the last updates are entered there under Upd - Date?
