System Restore in Windows 7 with Avira Antivirus Pro Version 15 : Does Avira block System Restore?
Hello:
I am using Avira Antivirus Pro Version : 15.0.2001.1707. On a Windows 7 OS
I keep trying to use System Restore function of Windows 7, but it fails and gives me notification that it is likely an antivirus which is preventing access to a specific file. So that System restore cant complete. It suggests temporarily disabling AV.
I tried disabling Avira real time protection. But System Restore still failed. I even tried in Safe Mode. But system restore failed again with exactly same notification.
QUESTION: Might thee be some "self-protection" function in Avira which continues blocking system restore even in Safe Mode. I know earlier editions of Avira Antivirus had some sort of "Self-Protection" module. But I cant find it in the configuration settings of current version.
Might it be there under some other name? And might that be what's blocking System Restore?

Well, this sounds really mad but this behavior cannot be forced by Avira Self-Protection as this feature is just protecting services of Avira.
It's quite possible that you have got a bug inside Windows 7 which is the reason why a system restore isn't possible. So, please check if there are some updates for your installed Windows are available.

I have exact the same issue with Windows 10.
Avira is blocking the system restore.
How can I stop Avaira????

Yes.I do believe it is Avira which is blocking System restore. Seems it's in Windows 10 as well as Windows 7.
The message I get when System Restore runs and fails to restore is precisely that the AV is likely to have blocked System Restore. The bug seems to be in Avira and not Windows
