    Hello David,

Sadly, we need to tell you that we don't support Windows XP for a couple of years now. Please take a look here:

    Hello Arthur,

I thank you very much for your comment on my Win XP problem.

May I ask you 2 final questions?

    1. Am I protected at this time on my brand new installation of Avira Free Antivirus?

I understand I can not download definitions anymore.

    2. I am 83 and I guess I will just hang on to my old laptop with Win XP.

I tried Avast and it almost wrecked my laptop. I am still recovering.

If you could suggest an antivirus program which still supports Win

XP? I would be very grateful, Sir.

It is indeed so sad to lose my old Avira Antivirus program after many years of feeling so safe with Avira.

    Hello David,

Well, we know that it's quite difficult to change an operating system at one point but cannot provide a proper solution. Regarding your open questions:

    1. You are some kind of protected but won't receive any updates for newer threats but as your used Windows XP isn't updated for years we cannot call it "protected".
    2. As far as we know it's quite impossible to find another vendor which is the protection of your Windows XP. The biggest security leak is the fact that there aren't any updates for issues with this operating system.

    Sorry!

    Best,

    David,

They are told by management to not help anyone with old outdated operating systems. I too am running xp on all of my pc's. If you were a techy you could go into the registry and delete a file that is preventing your Avira from updating. Go to xxxxxx.com and download their anti-virus program.
