Avira antivirus free update no longer working

I too am experiencing avira antivirus no longer updating. It goes on fine for four weeks and then simply stops. This has been going on for a while now. The only solution is to uninstall it, download the latest version and install it clean every four weeks.

I do not see the "repair" option with the free version, so a clean installation is the only option.

Does anyone know what is the cause and how to fix it?

My OS is Win 10.
