Can't delete items in quarantine

Ever since I installed Catalina, I can no longer delete items in quarantine. I see I wasn't the 1st to post the same problem but obviously Avira has not fixed it yet. How do I delete these items and should I. Other posts have mentioned Avira quarantining many legitimate files since installing Catalina, how do I know if my files are really infected and need to be deleted?

  In general it is not a problem keeping files in the quarantine since they can't do any harm there.
