Requests for changes the the new Avira User Interface
Hi - I and many other customers are very disappointed with the new Avira User Interface. You can see our comments in this thread here. The new interface lacks the configurability that the previous Avira interface had. You have removed a very important feature, without considering the needs and desires of your customers.
As mentioned in the other thread, many of the modules that Avira forces us to install and use are not required or desired. Please give us back the option to choose which Avira modules are installed.
Additionally, the new Avira user interface has "false positive" alerts in the tray application that the user can't clear, even if your software doesn't detect real security events when scanned. Please allow the user to permanently clear / ignore any detected faults so that the tray icon can once again provide useful information to the user when new alerts are identified. Microsoft has the capability for the user to deactivate alerts for unmonitored items in their Security Center, Avira should do the same.
Finally, please do not just mark this thread as "Completed" after your initial reply and then ignore this thread. As you can see in the mentioned thread above, your customers are feeling like Avira isn't paying attention to their requests for support. Some posters are very upset and are threatening to leave Avira.
Please keep this thread open and actively monitored so that you can get meaningful feedback from your customer base on your new User Interface.
Thanks,
Alan

I don't have much to contribute here I'm afraid, but I would like to say that I agree. I have been a subscriber to Avira for a long time now, but that's just it, I subscribed for Avira, not for a host of optimization tools that you can't disable.
I hope the Team at Avira will give some control back to it's users instead of forcing things. You can keep the optimization stuff in there, but give users the ability to have control over what parts of the software they want to use and have running.
But because the user is no longer truly in charge, I have been looking at some of the other anti-virus programs out there. For now though I'll see where this goes.

Agree specifically on Smartscan reporting false positives daily on items it has specifically been instructed to ignore. If Avira thinks these items are important could we compromise on re-enabling the warnings after a delay of several months? In that time I'd be willing to re-evaluate the warnings. And if they were still thought to be unimportant they could be delayed for again for another few months ad infinitum. For example it warns about old programs no longer updated that don't access the Internet and are valuable to continue using. Otherwise this is like the little boy crying wolf --- someday Smartscan may have a serious warning that should NOT be ignored just because of its association with previous warnings of no importance.

@... Great post, thanks! There are so many people complaining about the interface. But that interface itself is by far the least problem compared to all forced BS it comes with.
There are numerous posts here all covering the same problems about scaring people with all this unecessary bloatware and always the same stupid copy and paste answers from the so called support team. Pure ignorance towards the self-determined paying customer.
I doubt that there will be any substantial comment from the moderators. In the long run they will lose.
Until then I do continue to not recommend to by any avira product, as they treat paying customers as bad as any free user...

I agree. UI sucks. Settings only lets you change the language!

Well, Avira doesn't seem to be responding to our requests to give us back the configurable functionality we want in order to remove their bloatware.
So, I'm dumping Avira and going to ESET AntiVirus (not ESET Internet Security, which installs too much). ESET AV is a highly rated anti-virus with great general Internet protection, just what I want.
ESET is as good as (or better) than Avira on AV Comparatives in the latest round of 2020 tests.

at the OP,
I was able to stop most of the unwanted Module problem by 1st - disabling unwanted parts in "Services"
2nd - deleting unwanted module parts in "Program Files (x86)" and "Program Data". I have not had any glitches to date. (3.5 months)
If concerned about what to delete, remove files to another area, then delete later. You will need to set Avira to not protect it's files from deleting or manipulation in the settings GUI and then change it back afterwards.
Hope this helps someone.
