    Hello Yves-Eric,

Well, sadly we cannot do anything about it. As background information: macOS is handling a TimeMachine drive, not like a regular USB device. So for Avira, it's every time a new device as we don't have the possibility to handle this device as a special one.

Please configure your notifications as Apple describes:

    Hello Lukas,

Of course I could disable notifications from Avira Security, but that would also mean I would not get notified when a threat is found! That sounds like a bad idea doesn’t it?

Also, you write “sadly we cannot do anything about it”, but of course you can: you can provide an option to disable this “feature” (let’s be honest: it’s an ad for your “Prime” premium service). Or you could decide to show this ad no more than once every 24h or something like that.

I understand you need to promote your paid services, and I would not mind at all some level of advertisement for them, but this has to be done in a balanced way. It may be an unfortunate interaction with the way macOS handles TimeMachine drives, but that’s on you to handle properly. At the moment, the way you advertise the Prime premium service turned out as notifications spamming.

I cannot comment on pushing your paid products vs. alienating your free users base, that is your decision. But Lukas, look at my screenshot again... Do you really believe this level of notification spamming is OK?

    Best,

    Yves-Eric

I completely agree with the OP - I'm pretty close to uninstalling the sw since I simply don't need to be pushed an ad every time a USB drive is connected.  ESPECIALLY when I'm developing on an embedded board where is happens EVERY SINGLE TIME I compile and upload code.
