Avira is running a scan every night at midnight that I can't disable--but I can't have it doing this
AnsweredAvira now seems to be turning on my laptop's screen every night at midnight when it pops up windows for its "active process scan," which I cannot reschedule or disable.
I dislike having display shut off timers set in Windows; I prefer to turn off the screen manually when I'm done using it; this was possible because nothing else would turn it back on, except me. However, at the moment I'm having to turn Windows' automatic display shut off timer on--to a fairly short value--solely because Avira is now turning on the display every night. (I have other things running in the background that are better behaved.)
Furthermore, I am sometimes running a processor-sensitive application at midnight; a virus scan would disrupt it. I can't have this happening.
I need a way to stop this midnight scan from happening. There's also now a weekly Monday "Quick scan" at midnight that I need to be able to disable or reschedule as well.
Did it not occur to you that there may be users who need to be using their computers for other things at midnight? How can you impose this arbitrary scan time that users are not allowed to change? This is absurd.
I've been using Avira for years and have never had this problem before--or I would probably not have kept using it all this time.
Also, ideally, I would like to have a way to have a scan not turn on the display.

Hello Avira Customer
Unfortunately, you did not specify which Avira licence is installed on your computer.
Premium customers with a valid licence can contact the support team directly:

In case of technical questions, checks can be carried out by the support team, which we do not have access to here according to the GDPR. However, these can be carried out via email GDPR-conform with the support.
Since you would like to make some changes to your current installation, it makes sense to contact the support team to discuss the individual points accordingly.
Thank you for your understanding. At the moment there is a problem with multiple scans followed by an open report. The Avira technicians are already working on it. Unfortunately, we cannot say when the problem will be fixed.
We are sorry for this annoyance, we apologize for it and hope that the "Luke Filewalker" report will soon no longer disturb you by constantly opening.
Many greetings and have a nice Sunday evening0 -
Thanks for the reply. : ) This was the free version. I suppose it could be the "multiple scans followed by an open report" problem, but having forced scans at midnight would still be a problem, because it could quite potentially disrupt other work I'm doing. For now I've switched to Bitdefender.

Exactly the same problem here (also with the free version). My PC wakes me up every night when it performs the scan, activating the screen and beeping loudly (although the laptop is permanently connected to external speakers with the volume turned down). I cannot have this happening every night!
I have been using AVIRA for many, many years, but if these scans cannot be turned off or at least manually re-scheduled, I will have to consider using a different product.

I'm having the same problem, again with the free version. It's only been happening for the past week or so. It's constantly a problem when trying to do college homework online. No way to turn it off or anything...
Gonna start using other anti-virus programs if this keeps happening.

Hello to all,
Please have a look at the following information about the theme "Luke Filewalker"
Kind regards

That's interesting but I'm not sure it's describing the problem described here, as it has to do with Filewalker opening "unexpectedly." The problem here is with daily and weekly scheduled scans that cannot be disabled or even rescheduled.
