Completedcontext menu scanning missing

Yeah, I noticed it too. I'm on Avira free version and suddenly there is no way of scanning specific files. The option from context menu is gone and there is no way to scan selected file even through the app itself. Did it get removed? I couldn't find any info about it on the webpage.

@ Ned Chiang
Hello Ned,
The technicians are working on a fix for the shell extension.
It has already been communicated that a recovery is being worked on to be able to perform a scan via the context menu again afterwards.
Unfortunately, we cannot give any concrete information about the status of the repair here in the public forum.
Premium customers with a valid license can contact the support team directly from the customer account under "Support".Many greetings and a nice weekend

Had the same problem. Windows 10 home system. After automatic update(s) the context menu for manual scan of file(s) vanished/ no longer available. No fix was working, including uninstal + reboot+reinstall or repair. I used the download link (avira_en_sptl1_83579714-1638425217__pavwws-spotlight-release). After uninstall windows defender context menu was working, but after reinstall of avira (free version) there was no option for manual file scans, including windows defender. I do not know if free shell extension context file menu software can fix it and do not want to try it!
I was using the free version for more than 12 years on multiple systems and was very happy with it. Now only options I have are:
1. Continue using Avira software with no option(s) for manual file scan, at least until a fix is available "in the public form" and/or Avira company official website
2. Uninstall (any/ free) Avira software products and use something else.
3. Buy a premium version, contact support, have a ticket and/or (hopefully) get the problem solved.
I really hope that the free version will not silently vanish like the file context menu option!

Yeah, unfortunatelly there was no fix from Avira in the last 3 weeks which makes it look quite suspicious since a lot of people must be without the funcionality now. I will give it some more time and look at other free antivirus software in the meantime. Might be time to try Avast.

Yes, exactly! I switched back to Avast which I was using 12+ years ago prior to move to Avira after seeing that this issue is older than a month!. And yes, Avast HAS the file context menu enabled.
I also think they will remove the Avira free version soon, it is just very odd they decided to do it silently, without any warning AND let so many people uncovered! Very weird, bad decision/ mistake/ marketing policy !

Thank you Tom for the reply!
I've made a new post, that more people can see it now, Avira scan file context menu missing after update, disabling all manual scans, including Windows Defender (win 10) – Official Avira Support | Knowledgebase & Customer Support | Avira
I think we (users) need / deserve a quick fix to the issue, not public info about the state/ stage of their work on solving it.
And sadly, the users (free and/ or paid versions) quick answer to the problem is to switch asap to new/ another software provider.
More than one month of unsolved issue is unconceivable in 2022 when even Windows Defender - an OS viable option - has it enabled (manual file scan context menu)!
