Since yesterday (15 October 2022) Avira real time protection slow down windows7 a lot.
I don't know why but since yesterday real time protection slows down my pc a lot.
I have to turn the real protection down.
Before that date no issue. I'm on Windows7 64bit.
If real protection is on every click on any application is slower. The wait can be 1 second to 10 seconds. For example in my right click menu I have an application called "Bulk Rename". With real time protection the wait can be 10-12 seconds. Without protection 0 seconds. Also windows are slower in refreshing.
No virus, no malware, no change in hardware or software, no vpn.
Yesterday when I turned on my pc I saw for a second a message from Avira on screen. I closed the message without caring too much. Maybe was important but probably was just an advertisement.

Similar here. I first stumbled over this problem on Friday, 14. Oct. It took me two days to find out that Avira is the problem. Some processes use half of the cpu for longer time. The Sysinternals Process Explorer shows large parts of the cpu load in red which means "kernel-mode" load. Disabling Avira Security immediately cools down the load.
Currently installed: Avira Security Free, version 1.1.75.7 - update check says I have the latest version.

Nothing is changed in these days.
When the real time protection is on everything is slightly slower and some applications very slow.
I have notice something else. When I turn on the computer every day Avira is working and ready as usual.
But for a few minutes if I righ click the icon in the system tray I only see two choice, one is "scan" and the other is for "opening avira security". After a few minutes all the other choice in the menu appear.
So every day I have to turn off the real time protection but I also have to wait minutes to be able to do it. I cannot do it immediately. My avira is updated and new.
I want to try a new installation.1 -
