    First, is Avira Antivirus Free or Avira Free Security installed? Please state the exact name and number of the installed version.

    • Which OS is installed on your system?
    • How long has this Avira version been installed on your system?
    • Have you had your system scanned before? When was the last scan?
    • Did you have any files that were infected or quarantined before?
    • Have you changed any settings?

    Hello pasha45. Thank you very much for your answer. Very helpful. The product I use is Avira Antivirus free. The operating system is Windows 10 Home version.Avira has been installed for several years. Windows is scanned with Avira two maybe three times a month. I also use stand-alone virus scanners such as Sophos virus removal tool,MWAV tool box, ESET Online virus removal tool now and then. The extra scans with other antivirus apps, it allows me to feel I've done what I can to keep Windows clean. The last scan a few days ago with no infection found. No files quarantined or deleted no infection found for many months now. No changes to antivirus software, Windows had an update that caused some problems, happens a lot here lately. I should mention while downloading the app. Unlocker Avira ID program as virus. Started to quarantine files at a very fast rate. I used the task manager to end Avira action. Probably should mention I ran other A.V apps and found no infections. Looked for rootkits, Malware and anything else programs would I.D.found nothing. After Windows update SFC found corrupted files and repaired files. DISM command was used to restore health all is well I hope. As I was trying to work in the quarantined section of Avira noticed popups indicating information being sent to Avira noting errors in trying to restore files. Popups indicating they are working on a solution. Thank you for your attention to my problem and I wish you and family a happy holiday.
