Avira Free Anti Virus not working with Mac OS Big Sur 11.5.2

My Avira program which has worked well for years is no longer working with MacOS Big Sur 11.5.2. I am invited to set up Avira and I give the necessary permissions but the Later button I am instructed to click never appears. The umbrella remains closed in the toolbar with a red dot next to it and "Your antivirus protection is off" appears in grey.

Is Avira Free Security compatible with mac OS Big Sur 11.5.2? If so, I would like to uninstall and re-install but there is no uninstall option offered. Also when I try moving Avira from the apps to the Trash I am told it cannot be removed as there are extensions.

Any help on how to resolve these issues would be gratefully received.

  It is unfortunate that you are experiencing inconvenience with your installation and increased workload.

  Do you use our latest installation kit from your Avira account, or do you grab it from a different source?

  Normally, Big Sur 11.5.2 and the Avira Free Security version are compatible.

  Please describe exactly how you have already tried to uninstall the programme. Something  seems to be wrong, so we need concrete details of how you have tried to complete the uninstallation correctly so far.
