Avira in-product Messaging (IPM) is a "slide-up" message window that is designed to inform customers about various current Avira offers and products.
IPMgui.exe file accessing the Internet
After each computer start, IPMgui.exe connects to the Internet to update the current Avira database. The updates are executed regularly during the day but not on a fixed schedule.
Note
IPM slide-up messages are triggered only with the Free Antivirus version and cannot be disabled. The IPM slide-up message disappears only after an upgrade to the Pro version.
You can change the notifications mode to limit the number of notifications if you want to avoid frequent notifications and receive them only for critical threats or events that require your attention or action.
Note
Notification mode settings option is available only in the Pro version.
Change the Notifications mode
1. Open Avira Security.
2. Go to Settings -> Notifications.
3. In the right pane, select Limited mode. (Shows alerts when threats are detected but blocks any pop-up offers)
