Avira Phantom VPN (Virtual Private Network) builds an encrypted tunnel between the client and the Avira Server. The interconnection to the target server will remain encrypted only when using an HTTPS connection in the browser.
Avira does not store or log any customer data. Solely data for connection setup and diagnostic data for statistical purposes is collected.
1. Click the Avira icon in the system tray to open the Avira user interface.
2. Click Privacy in the left menu.
3. Click the VPN function.
4. Click Advanced settings.
5. Once the VPN popup window opens click the upper right Settings icon.
6. Disable the Send diagnostic data option.
Note
When using unencrypted protocols (HTTP) – regardless of Avira Phantom VPN – there is always a risk that your private data is collected by third parties.
Therefore, we recommend using always an encrypted HTTPS connection in your browser.
Modern browsers reflect an encrypted connection with a lock icon in the address bar.
