avira.systray.exe is preventing shutdown
Hi,
Everytime I reboot or shutdown my computer (windows 10), I get the task manager prompt "This app is preventing shut down" and have to click shut down anyway or cancel and then retry and it usually works. The culprit is avira.systay.exe (and if I kill it before shuttiing down it all works like a charm of course).
I uninstalled and reinstalled several time.
A little help would be welcome.
Thank you.
Edit : as my os is in french I may be wrong, litterally it says :
"Avira Free Antivirus - SysTray
This program isn't responding.
[...]
End now / Cancel "

Hello Hawy,
this sounds like really strange behavior. It could be that the remains of an older Avira installation cause this error. We recommend you to do a manual reinstallation as described under the following link:

Hello Dominik,
Thank you for your answer.
Sadly after trying twice I can confidently say it didn't work.
My very first reboot went smoothly but it was because the "real time protection" was not activated. As soon as it is, it gives me this error again.Any other idea ? :)
Thank you in advance.0 -

Just in case this was forgotten ;)0 -
So, I gave Avira.Systray.exe admin rights and windows 8 compatibility mode.
It seems to have done the trick.
Altough I also unsinstalled several msi bloatwares, so it could have played a role.
Two observations while I'm at it :
- Google finds results from your support posts that your research tool does not. Sadly clicking a result from google always gets one to your support homepage...- Finding your installer only for the antivirus and not for the whole suite was difficult. This gives a bad image of Avira, it looks like a tons of adware installer. Moreover as one can't select components options when installing the suite, it is really infuriating overall.
I've been an Avira user and lover for more than 10 years now, so don't think I'm not grateful. These two things are bad for your image I believe, and it saddens me.
