The new Avira UI is horrible! Is there any way to go back to the old Avira User Interface?

    Hello Alan,

In the past, pure virus protection was completely sufficient to protect your system - unfortunately, this is no longer the case today.

For this reason, we must react to new threat scenarios away from viruses, worms, and trojans. For this reason, we have now combined all modules under a uniform interface. It is never easy to accept a change, especially if it has a negative effect on you personally.

I ask you to understand that this decision was not taken lightly but is based on the needs of the majority of our users. Sadly, there's no way back to the "old GUI" as it's already EOL.

    Best,

Hi, Lukas - I can understand the combination of viruses, worms, etc into threat protection.

However, I have zero interest in Avira's viewpoint of "Optimization" and and "Privacy" modifications to my PC, and I will never let those be run - There is a chance that running either of those can break functionality on my system. These aren't protection against viruses.

Unfortunately, the new Avira User Interface doesn't allow me to disable these "features" or the resulting annoyance daily alerts for these.

The old Avira interface allowed disabling these and other features, which the new interface doesn't. Can you add the capability for the user to optionally disable monitoring "Optimization" and "Privacy" so that Avira doesn't keep notifying me in the taskbar icon that there is some issue to be cleared?

Additionally, Avira is constantly putting a red dot with a "1" on "Security", but nothing is actually found for a security issue when I run the system check.

I am now ignoring the Avira taskbar icon when it has a dot, which defeats the purpose of having the notification dot.

    Hi,

well, I must admit being annoyed, too. And concerning that red dot: I have the same.

Seems like I am gonna leave the day my already paid subscription expires (unfortunately 674 days left). What's this subscription worth now?

For some reason, this thread is now marked "Completed", while it should still be an open issue.

Hopefully, Avira Support is still monitoring this thread.

I too dislike the new interface and am frustrated with constantly being told optimization issues that have nothing to do with virus protection. I definitely will not be renewing my subscription if Avira doesn't have a re-think on these changes

For anybody posting on this thread, please "upvote" it on the original post.

Hopefully, it will help get higher Avira's Tech Support visibility.

    Hey Joe

If you use an avira free antivirus offline installer, you'll notice that it's the same version as what comes with the suite.

I paid for a virus scanner and not to get these rubbish "optimizations" nor do I want "Prime"

If it will not be possible to switch this off this was the last time I paid for Avira Antivirus Pro

Avira Tech Support - Are you still monitoring this issue, or is it not being monitored because it you marked it "COMPLETED"?

    Please respond.

I too dislike the new Avira interface which gives you no control over the program.

AS TO YOUR REPLIES AND HOLYIER THAN THOU ATTITUDE - IT APPEATRS THAT THERE IS NO OTHER RESORT THAN TO CHANGE TO ANOTHER ANTI-VIRUS PROVIDER.

I also hate the new UI, because I bought Antivirus Pro and don't need some "advanced Features" in "Prime" for (sorry for this) "Noob-Users". I am very angry, because I bought a 3-Year-5-Devices licence this year, that it worthless!

Avira used to be good - now it only is spreding adds in his own product.

To the other commenters on this thread: It appears that Avira Tech Support is not currently monitoring this thread since it has been marked "Completed". There has been no response from Avira since the original reply.

I have started this new thread referring Avira Tech Support back to this thread.

You (the other commenters) may want to post and up vote in the new thread to get your voices heard by Avira.

    Cheers,

    Alan

There you have it - Avira are completely not interested with the opinions of its customers.

Hopefully it won't take long before all Avira customers wake up and justifiably forsake Avira.

Hello everybody, to access all the features of the avira user interface, open the Antivirus Manager from the icon in the Windows traybar and in Security select Security options, then click on the icon represented by the gear in one of the 4 available features. To schedule a scan from the Security menu select Virus scans and from Full scan click on the icon shown by the calendar, from Manage Scans you will have access to all schedules and reports.

Best regards and sorry for my bad english
