    You are writing here in the Avira Community, a publicly accessible forum - an user2user forum.

    The digital assistant Mark drew your attention to the correct registration:
    "I am here to help, but my assistance is limited to your subscription level." and "If you have an account, please log in for premium support services." A satisfactory response from the digital assistant Mark is only possible if you have logged in correctly.

    Premium customers with a valid licence and correct registration can contact the Avira support team directly from the Avira customer account under "SUPPORT": via e-mail, support chat  - in some cases telephone.

    Your: "I have just been charged for a renewal of the contract without prior notice, which I hate 100%."

    About your option to cancel the subscription and get a refund, you will surely have your copies. 
    Please log in correctly to your customer account. We have not seen any cancellation or refund request. But you will have a copy of them.  Please submit the relevant copies to Support and refer to the correctly entered termination and your refund requests.

    Then you have a copy of the notice of termination.
